Fighter jet crashes soon after taking off from Logan Airport.

Instead of ejecting from the plane, the pilot, James Conway of Bedford, gives up his life and steers it into the water just offshore Bayswater Street rather than allow it to crash into houses in the area. A plaque commemorating Conway’s heroism is dedicated on Bayswater Road on October 2, 2004.
